What I'm Trying to Do Here
I can't program, but that won't stop me anymore.
AI will change everything. About as dramatic as it gets for a first sentence of a first post of a just-launched newsletter. But I do believe it. The speed at which AI has improved is unbelievable. Its adoption rate, equally unbelievable. OpenAI launched ChatGPT in November 2022 and less than three years later they’re on their way to a billion users. That’s an eight of everyone on our good planet Earth using ChatGPT.
AI is shaking up entire industries. Marketing, photography, videography, music, you name it. Only last week, Zuckerberg said that Meta will soon have an AI model that's as good as a midlevel engineer. It won’t be long before AI will affect everyone’s jobs, especially the ones that are predominantly done in front of a computer.
On the one hand, that’s terrifying. I write content for blockchain companies. I’m very much aware that AI is getting pretty good at generating the kind of content companies want. So it feels like a threat to my livelihood. I’m sure that many who are even remotely aware of what’s going on in AI are feeling the same kind of threat.
That’s one side of the coin.
But there’s another side. A side that I much prefer.
